After being unemployed for 6 months due to Covid-19, I’m finally jumping back in the edit chair. Like the majority of people who are currently working during this pandemic, I will not be commuting to an office and will be cutting from home instead.
When I was still working at an office, one of the things that helped me manage my time and accomplish my tasks every day was to establish a daily routine. This meant having somewhat of a set schedule from the moment I got up to the time I went to bed. I’m now applying that concept to my new work environment. It’s very easy to get distracted at home and having a daily routine helps me stay focused and productive. It also allows me to stick to a healthy eating and workout schedule which gives me energy for the day.
Here’s my Work-From-Routine from Monday to Friday:
- 6:00am – Wake up
- 6:30am – Drink a cup of hot water with lemon (check out the benefits)
- 7:00am – Workout (Strength training or cardio)
- 8:00am – Post-workout protein shake, shower, and make bed
- 8:45am – Make breakfast and coffee
- 9:30am – Start work
- 11:00am – Snack (usually fruit)
- 1:00pm – Lunch
- 3:00pm – Tea time
- 4:00pm – Snack (either protein shake, fruit, or Greek yogurt with chia seeds)
- 8:00pm – Dinner
- 10:00pm – Read or watch TV
- 11:00pm – Bedtime
I also try to throw in a couple minutes of stretching throughout the day.
I’m flexible with the times because I don’t want to stress about doing everything exactly at the moment I scheduled it. This just serves as a guide.
Regarding my exercise routine, here are the strength training and cardio workouts I do throughout the week:
- Monday – Chest & Back
- Tuesday – Boxing
- Wednesday – Arms
- Thursday – Legs
- Friday – Shoulders
- Saturday – Running (between 3-6 miles)
- Sunday – Rest
Setting a routine can be challenging, so it’s important to start small and slowly grow from there. For example, start by getting up or making your bed at the same time every day. Once you do that, move on to the next task and begin building your routine. I can’t tell how much this has helped me become more productive, avoid burnout, and stay healthy. Let me know what you come up with once you get going.
