Stop Trying to Figure This Out on Your Own

Get clear on what actually matters, find consistent work, and make better decisions about your editing career.

There’s no clear path to a Film & TV editing career.

No roadmap. No real guidance. And most of the advice out there doesn’t reflect what it’s actually like to work in this industry.

So people end up:

  • taking random jobs just to stay busy

  • second-guessing their decisions

  • stuck between projects with no real plan

  • or feeling like they’re doing everything right… but nothing is moving forward

I’ve been there.

And after years of working in the industry and editing high-profile projects, I realized something:

👉 Most editors don’t need more tutorials.

👉 They need clarity, direction, and real-world guidance.

That’s why I created Hollywood Editing Mentor.

Kat Kerr

Assistant Editor

Hi, I'm Joaquin!

I’m a film and television editor with over 20 years of experience in the industry. My credits include The Abandons, Narcos: Mexico, Dark Winds, Griselda, and The Hot Zone: Anthrax. I’m also a member of American Cinema Editors (ACE).

I started my career in local news before transitioning into scripted television, working my way up from assistant editor to editor on major productions.

I’m the founder of Hollywood Editing Mentor, where I help editors navigate the realities of the industry, build their careers, and develop the skills that actually lead to long-term success.

Through my work, I focus on sharing practical, real-world insight…the kind of knowledge most editors only learn after years of experience in the room.
