My first guest will be editor Garret Donnelly, who’s worked on such shows as Narcos: Mexico, NOS4A2, Knightfall, 24: Legacy, and Homeland. Garret is a talented editor who genuinely enjoys helping others and has been very supportive of his assistants getting promoted to full-time editors.

These are some of the questions I’ve been receiving from people I’ve been mentoring. Garret and I will be discussing how assistants can be proactive in building a better relationship with their editor. I was Garret’s assistant for some time and we developed a strong working relationship with good communication that made our environment fun and productive. Garret will also be giving advice on how assistant editors can pitch themselves for an opportunity to co-edit an episode of scripted TV.
