The Industry Has Changed… But You Still Have Control

The HEM Playbook is a simple system to help you stop guessing, gain clarity, and move forward when things feel slow and uncertain.

Joaquin Elizondo ACE FIlm & TV Editor

In this 2-hour live workshop, you'll learn how to:

• Get clear on what matters most when work feels slow

• Stop spinning in uncertainty and replace it with a proven roadmap

• Identify the actions that actually move your career forward

• Stay consistent without burning out or second-guessing yourself

• Build a 30-day action plan you can start immediately

Maybe you’re not working right now. Or you are working, but you’re not sure what comes next.

You’re sending emails that go unanswered.

You’re watching others move forward and wondering what you’re missing.

You’re showing up every day, but the uncertainty is loud and it’s exhausting.

You don’t need another pep talk. You need a plan.

Motivation comes and goes, especially when things feel uncertain.

What actually makes the difference is having something clear to follow…

A structured system you can rely on.

Without structure, everything turns into guessing. And that’s where momentum stalls.

The HEM Playbook gives you a simple system so you know exactly what to focus on and can keep moving forward.

It’s the same approach I’ve used to build a sustainable career working on high-level projects and to stay consistent, keep momentum, and navigate the ups and downs of this industry.

Kat Kerr, Assistant Editor

Hi, I'm Joaquin!

I’m a film & television editor with over 20 years of experience in the industry. My credits include The Abandons, Narcos: Mexico, Dark Winds, Griselda, and The Hot Zone: Anthrax, and I’m a member of American Cinema Editors (ACE).

I started in local news and worked my way into film and scripted television, going from assistant editor to editor on major productions.

The HEM Playbook comes directly from that experience: what it actually takes to stay consistent, keep moving forward, and build a sustainable career in an industry that’s always changing.

I’m also the founder of Hollywood Editing Mentor, where I help editors navigate the realities of this business, build meaningful careers, and focus on the skills and actions that actually lead to long-term success.

Everything I share is based on real-world experience, the kind of insight most editors only gain after years of being in the room.
